PYROLUX Lite is a free fire and explosion VFX addon for Godot 4: a procedural campfire and a ground explosion, drawn entirely by shaders with no textures.
What's inside
- PyroluxFire3D: flame tongues, embers, smoke and a flickering light.
$Campfire.ignite()/$Campfire.extinguish() - PyroluxExplosion3D: flash, a fireball that cools into smoke, dust, a shock ring, sparks, debris and a scorch mark.
Pyrolux.spawn(self, "explosion_grenade", point) - 3 presets (campfire, torch, grenade), an orange palette and a small demo scene
- Shape, size, flame height, colours, radius and each explosion part are editable in the Inspector
Requirements
- Godot 4.4 or newer (tested on 4.4.1 and 4.7.2)
- Forward+, Mobile and Compatibility (Web) renderers
- GDScript and shaders only: no C#, no GDExtension, no compute shaders
Install
The addon goes to addons/pyrolux_fx/ and the demo to pyrolux_lite_demo/. Open pyrolux_lite_demo/lite_demo.tscn and press F6.

PYROLUX Full on itch.io adds 10 3D and 5 2D effect types (with pixel-art mode): bonfires, walls and rings of fire, coloured fire, mushroom clouds, air bursts, napalm, smoke columns, sparks, embers and ash, lava pools and rivers, flamethrowers and thrusters, meteors, scorch marks, and PyroluxBurn3D, which sets any mesh on fire and lets it char or burn away. 49 presets and 6 palettes. It uses the same addon folder, so upgrading is copying it over Lite.
