Overview
Constantly creating and destroying nodes (bullets, enemies, effects) causes small performance hits, especially on lower-end devices. This tool solves that by pre-creating a batch of reusable scenes, so you don't have to create and destroy them every time. It saves both performance and effort.
No autoloads, no singletons, no setup beyond a few simple steps. Works with any node type: 2D, 3D or UI
Requires Godot 4.4 or newer.
What's Inside?
- 'object_pool.gd': The core of pooling
- Two example scenes: manual (button-based) spawn/return, and a fully automatic spawn/return loop
- Built-in failsafes with clear warnings.
- Optional automatic refresh: when pool runs low, it can create more objects by itself, up to a limit you set (Max Size).
- A README for fast setup and fixes for known errors
- More to be added in the future (hopefully)
Dev Note
This is my first proper public tool release. I built and tested it myself as part of learning coding and Godot more deeply, and I plan to expand it in the future as well. If you run into any bugs or have any ideas for this project, feel free to reach out. I'd genuinely appreciate the feedback.
