Using
After installing and enabling the plugin, put a PipeMaker object in your scene and, with it selected:
- Click and drag on a surface that has collision enabled to create a new pipe
- Hold control to apply a hint for the end point for whether it should be flush with surface, or lay on it
- Hold shift while dragging a new pipe to make along a path
Once you drag out a new pipe, you can now edit it with the bezier interface:
- Click on an existing path to activate bezier controls for it
- Press shift while dragging an end point to make that end flush with the surface
- Press control while dragging to snap the point to be offset from the surface
- Double click on a path to insert a point
- Double click on a point to remove that point
- Click down on an end point without releasing, press Space to append a new point
- Shift-Control-double-click on a path to delete the path
Baking
If you want to have functional pipe intersections, you currently must bake your pipes. Click on the Bake all with intersections in the inspector for the PipeMaker object. This will create a new object with mesh and static body.
Troubleshooting
This currently uses Godot's CSG nodes, but due to apparent glitches in CSG nodes on some systems (like mine) meshes and colliders are sometimes invisible when you run the game, and sometimes invisible when you open a scene. To work around this, you can try these things:
- Rearrange object order in the scene.
- Bake objects in the editor, before running
- Bake objects, then save the bake into its own scene, and include that scene in your real scene.
For me, the most reliable option is option 3. No idea why CSG is so cantankerous, let me know if you know!!
