Audio for your game, inside Godot

SFXMint adds a native bottom dock for searching, listening, generating and importing audio.

  • Library: search, preview and download existing sound effects without an account.
  • Studio: generate short sound effects, 30-second ambience and background music with your own SFXMint API key.
  • Compare candidates, star favorites, select available versions or formats, and import the one you choose.
  • Descriptions are directly editable. Preview downloads and imports show their loading state.
  • Import into your project with a per-file provenance and license manifest. Your game uses local audio and works without this plugin or a network connection.

Install

Extract the plugin ZIP into your project so addons/sfxmint/plugin.cfg exists. Enable SFXMint under Project → Project Settings → Plugins, then open and expand the SFXMint bottom dock.

Accounts and costs

The plugin is free and MIT-licensed. Library search, previews and downloads need no API key. Generation connects to the hosted SFXMint service and uses your account allowance; a SFXMint plan or credits may be required. You do not need to deploy a server. Create your own key at https://sfxmint.com/dashboard/keys and see current generation pricing at https://sfxmint.com/pricing. No key is included.

The download ZIP contains no precompiled programs and uses session-only account connections. Remember on this device is disabled unless you separately build an optional credential helper from the public source. Keys are never written into the project or included in game exports.

Compatibility

Godot 4.6 or later. Native editor and installation checks ran on macOS ARM64 with Godot 4.6/4.7, including session-only connections, preview, fixture generation and import from the delivered ZIP. Native behavior on Intel macOS, Windows and Linux remains unverified. Actual microphone capture/permission behavior remains unverified.

Audio rights and AI

Original SFXMint audio is AI-generated and CC0. User-supplied source derivatives retain source-specific rights, recorded in each file’s manifest. AI coding tools assisted development of the plugin and documentation. Screenshots show the actual plugin with local example data; the example tone is procedural audio.
