Stylized grass with wind. The shader is a port of the version running in my package on the Unity Asset Store.

What it does

  • the wind works in three layers at once: a single blade sways to its own rhythm, a gust travels across the meadow bending neighbouring clumps together, and on top of that sits a fine tremble
  • the motion is anchored at the root: the blade stands still at the ground and only leans out towards the tip
  • the colour isn't uniform: two independent tinting layers are applied over the texture, a finer one and a larger one
  • each tinting layer works in either patch or band mode: patches drift across the meadow irregularly, bands travel with the wind
  • four ready-made materials - green, dry, dead and winter - differ in colour, blade thickness, and how strongly the wind takes hold of them
  • one slider takes a field from summer to winter: the blade turns dry straw and snow settles from the tip downwards, from frosted tips to a field buried to the ground

What is inside

  • grass shader with wind
  • four materials, one of them winter
  • grass clump mesh and textures
  • demo scenes
  • documentation, PDF

Requires 4.7 or newer.
